10/18/2007 The MySci program recently announced the expansion of their educational outreach capabilities to include an online component. Their Web site, www.mysci.info, will serve as a resource for area teachers and as a portal to engage students and provide necessary information about the inquiry-based MySci program.

In its second year of outreach to St. Louis elementary schools, the MySci Investigation Station will visit Delmar-Harvard elementary and allow students to engage in innovative, hands-on science learning. Children from kindergarten through second grade will explore a Missouri limestone cave, enter a woodlands area and interact with live bugs and insects within this state-of-the-art traveling classroom. Highly trained education specialists will be on hand to assist both the teachers and the students as they explore animal, plant and earth sciences.

The award, designed to recognize contributions by African-Americans in various realms of education, honors Norfleet's commitment to help close achievement gaps and to interest young students in science.

| | | MYSCI™ PROGRAM EXPANDS REACH, CONTINUES TO TAKE ON ACHIEVEMENT GAP IN ST. LOUIS’ ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS Last Updated:
10/18/2007 One and a half school years after its debut, the MySci program will expand its reach by launching a second Investigation Station in January 2007. The Investigation Station, a traveling interactive science experience created with the early elementary student in mind, consists of a Missouri woodlands area, a specimen room and a replica of a Missouri limestone cave. The new Investigation Station will make its first official visit to Clay Elementary in the St. Louis Public School District from Jan. 23-25.

In this position, Norfleet will travel to local elementary schools with the MySci program’s Investigation Station and provide professional development for participating teachers.
